A Free Tree Needs A Home & Tree Northampton Can Help

The City of Northampton is offering to plant healthy, young shade trees on private property within 20 feet of the public right of way. If you’re a property owner and would like a tree delivered and planted in your front or side yard AT NO COST, Tree Northampton volunteers want to assist you in the process.

  • A qualified volunteer from the Public Shade Tree Commission will make a site visit to work with you to select a species from the City’s approved Tree List and to determine optimal siting for your tree.
  • Tree Northampton will coordinate with the City’s Tree Warden and the City Department of Public Works and trained, knowledgeable volunteers to plant the tree.
  • Before receiving a tree, you will need to fill out and sign the City of Northampton Department of Public Works form: Northampton Tree Request.  Our volunteers will also have this form available when you meet with them.

Please start the process by requesting a tree directly from the City of Northampton Tree Warden Rich Parasiliti at 413-587-1570, ext. 4317 or at rparasiliti@northamptonma.gov with “Shade Tree” in the subject line. We will then get in touch with you to schedule a site visit.
